Enter the house...

So here we are in a house of our own again... loyal viewers will know it has been some time...

And it was determined, with some influence from Christoper Lowell (honestly the guy has serious Foyer-OCD) and so I was "commissioned" to build in an entry way...

We found some French doors on Craigslist right after we moved into the house so we just needed a  wall where they could be hung.
The front room/entry used to look like this:

The floor is newly laid "wood", floating floor, which I did not do a blog entry about... cause after you have Erngineered(tm) floors pre-made is just not that interesting...

So, I missed some early pictures of the wall framing, but here it is 95% framed and the Frenchies hung:
the doors have the top roller-latches so I will put in a couple crutch studs to press the header down into the door

Here you can see a little bit how deep the sidelights are, ~8" so it is a sturdy door assembly.
We had to choose an asymmetrical look given the space to be filled and we had the French door line up with he house's front door and then have a small wall on the other side. And after much discussion and brainstorming we went with framed plywood for the wall...
that is 3/8" plywood and 1 X 4 boards...
      (facing inside)                                                                      (facing out)

Broke out my pneumatic stapler for this project, YEAH!

and now a look at the entire wall in all it's splendid  unfinished glory....

Okay, I ran out of 1X4 stock and the strip on the right is not trimmed yet... and do you suppose that the wood will get painted or stained....?  Stay tuned for the next installment...
