A new floor

First a preview of upcoming projects... here is a bit of router practice
As Dennis Miller would say, "I don't want to get off on a Rant, but..." have you ever noticed that once carpet gets dirty it NEVER truly will come clean even if it looks clean? Well we have and this is the beginning of our crusade to remove all carpet from our house and replace with in expensive alternatives...

Here we have a sheet of plywood 4'x8'x1/2", but look closely... I have scrolled the outline of 6" planks onto the surface using a circular saw set for ~1/8 depth.

On the right you can see the scroll work better. The plank pattern starts from the left with a row of 2 - 4' "planks" then a row of 1 - 2', 1 - 4', 1 - 2' planks and the the remaining rows repeat the pattern to give the traditional overlapped look that a tongue-n-groove plank floor would have.

So now we are ready for some primer and paint, there are a total of six panels for this room, by the way.

and now the paint, "bitter chocolate" brown...

Fast forward to the paint being dry and let's install some flooring... using counter sunk 1 1/4" deck screws.

The transition from the existing "engineered" hardwood floor to the "erngyneered" wood floor, should be interesting to see which looks better when this room is complete.

After a couple night sessions nearly all the panels are installed, but as you can see from the photo on the left, the most complicated cuts await our crew...
